Tour Highlights:

Enjoy pedaling the quiet backroads of Northern England through three iconic national landscapes—the shimmering lakes and waterfalls of the Lake District National Park, the rolling green countryside of the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors, and the dramatic coastal and border scenery farther north. The journey includes a recovery-day ride from Scarborough to the historic fishing town of Whitby, following scenic coastal paths where sea air, cliffs, and harbor views set an unhurried pace before we transfer to Newcastle upon Tyne.

From Newcastle, the adventure builds toward an epic single-day ride to Ayr, where open countryside meets rugged coastline and long summer light stretches toward the horizon. Along the way, each day is enriched with farm-to-table meals, artisan cheeses, and regional ales, plus post-ride experiences such as guided local tours, whisky and beer tastings, and restorative countryside spa time—a moving portrait of the timeless beauty and layered history of the Northern UK.

This experience is ideal for an active, curious traveler who enjoys a long, purposeful days in the saddle and find satisfaction in covering real distance through changing landscapes. It’s ideal for cyclists who are comfortable riding consecutive days, adapting to varied terrain—from rolling countryside and moorland to coastal stretches and sustained inland efforts—and who appreciate the mental rhythm that comes with extended backroad riding through lesser-explored regions, embraces multiple hotel transfers as part of the adventure, and values meaningful movement, cultural connection, and well-earned recovery over a race-style itinerary.

SAMPLE ROUTE:

Itinerary

  • Our arrival day will start in the beautiful town of Windermere in England’s Lake District, where we’ll begin our week with lunch, bike fitting, and our first ride together.

Participants flying internationally may be picked up from either Glasgow Airport (approx. 2–2.5 hours ) or Manchester Airport (approx. 1.75–2 hours ). From there, we will travel together by train to our first destination in Windermere.

Those arriving days earlier are welcome to take the train independently from either city directly to Windermere, where our adventure officially begins. We will coordinate early arrivals and provide prepaid train tickets in advance, ensuring a smooth trip to our starting point.

We’ll gather for lunch at 12:30 pm, followed by bike fitting and a relaxed 15-mile warm-up loop through the stunning countryside.

After the ride, we’ll check into our hotel, unwind, explore the area, and meet again later for dinner.

    Hotel: Linthwaite House Hotel

  • Hotel: Linthwaite House Hotel

After breakfast, we’ll set off on an unforgettable lakes-and-valleys ride that showcases the most iconic scenery of the Lake District. Our route winds north from Windermere through villages like Ambleside and Coniston. We’ll roll past dry-stone walls and grazing sheep before we make a climb to a storybook village surrounded by wooded hillsides known for its poetic past and handmade treats. Here, the road dips alongside shaded pathways that feel like a secret passageway through the mountains. As the landscape opens as we approach the viewpoint where one of the most photographed panoramas is discovered. Our descend leads us into the timeless beauty of valleys shaped by glaciers and farms that seem untouched by modern life. Along the way, rustic stone cottages, moss-covered bridges, and misty ridgelines create a scene that feels lifted straight from an English painting.

After we experience the very best of this extraordinary landscape we will stop for lunch before returning to Windermere to have the afternood to relax and prepare for our post ride enchanting medieval adventure and dinner.

  • Hotel: Stone House Hotel, Yorkshire Dales

We leave Windermere behind and head east toward the Yorkshire Dales National Park, watching the terrain gradually transform as we ride. Wooded lakeshore roads and gentle Lakeland hills soon give way to open farmland, wider green pastures, and rolling valleys dotted with stone cottages and grazing sheep. With each mile, the landscape grows quieter and more dramatic, shifting from the lush, tree-lined Lake District into the sweeping limestone scenery of the Dales. Dry-stone walls stitch the hills like ancient patchwork, tiny villages feel frozen in time, and the sky opens into wide, wild horizons. Along the way we’ll pass historic viaducts and tumbling waterfalls, crossing from one iconic English landscape into another

    Hotel: Stone House Hotel

  • We leave the hotel and roll straight into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, setting out on a loop that takes us through the three breathtaking valleys of Coverdale, Wharfedale, and Nidderdale. The landscape unfolds quickly as we ride—quiet lanes lined with wildflower meadows, sweeping hillsides cut by ancient dry-stone walls, and long, open stretches where sheep graze under endless sky. With every turn, the character of each dale reveals itself. It’s a journey that captures the full drama of the National Park. We arrive at the beautiful Hotel to enjoy our evening in the heart of the dales

    Hotel: Grantly Hall

  • Hotel: The County Hotel , New Castle Upon Tyne

This recovery / rest day ride is designed to loosen the legs and clear the mind before our big UK crossing. We roll along the Scarborough–Whitby cycle path, a smooth, scenic route tracing clifftop views, quiet countryside, and stretches of North Sea coastline. It’s an easy, conversational ride—fresh sea air, gentle movement, and time to enjoy the landscape without pressure.

The ride finishes in the historic fishing village of Whitby, where cobbled streets, a lively harbor, and a relaxed seaside lunch set the tone. For those wanting a little extra, an optional extension toward Middlesbrough offers additional miles without changing the spirit of the day. After lunch, we transfer by van to Newcastle upon Tyne, allowing time to rest, regroup, and prepare for Saturday’s epic ride—the longest day of the year.
